Fuel Filler Hoses Processes
Depending on the volume required we can either form and autoclave cure this type of product or for higher volumes we can use a variety of normal rubber moulding technicques.
The forming type process can produce low to medium volumes of product at low tooling cost.
This can be particularly attractive for very low vehicle volumes.
The part designs are usually simply but long or can include fairly complex bends and/or convolutions to absorb vibration and movement between the tank and the fixing on the vehicle body. A typical example might be the part shown for a yellow goods vehicle.
The moulding process does need more expensive tooling but usually then has a lower part price. Using this process we make the typical automotive hoses in both single and dual layer materials. The advantage of the dual layer process is that we are able to line the pipe with FKM to give the fuel and fuel vapour resistance using FKM materials but avoid a large part of the cost of this type of material by overcoating with a typical resistant material such as PVC/Nitrile. Some examples of this type of work are also shown.
